Joyful News: BBSS Student and Alumna Crowned Champions in Secondary School and Open Categories at the Yuen Long Police District Anti-Deception Proposal Competition
Our teachers and students have always demonstrated a profound commitment to caring for society and actively contributing to the local community through creative problem-solving. In the "All 'Yuen' Against Deception · Creating Highlights Together" Proposal Competition organised by the Yuen Long Police District, our Form 4A student Leung Cheuk Lam and recent graduate Miss Chan Yee Wan achieved remarkable success. Out of nearly 800 entries, they were awarded Champion in the Secondary School Category (along with the Best Anti-Deception Proposal Award) and Champion in the Open Category respectively, bringing great honour and encouragement to our school community.
The competition aimed to pool collective wisdom from the community to devise innovative and practical publicity strategies, thereby raising public alertness to scams. The winning proposals were highly commended by the panel of adjudicators and will potentially be adopted by the Yuen Long Police District as official anti-deception campaigns across the district, helping to build a robust safety net for local residents.
Demonstrating keen observation of daily life and practical innovation, Leung Cheuk Lam proposed incorporating anti-deception advice onto dining place mats to integrate scam prevention into everyday dining experiences, thereby earning both the Secondary School Category Champion and the Best Anti-Deception Proposal Award. Reflecting on this achievement, Cheuk Lam shared:
"My suggestion was to print anti-deception advice on dining place mats so that, during daily meals, scam awareness can be conveyed to people across different age groups, integrating reminders into everyday life. I am deeply honoured to receive this award and truly delighted that my design concept has been recognised. I hope the proposal can be adopted by the police to help the public heighten their vigilance against scams."
Miss Chan Yee Wan also secures the Open Category Championship with a highly effective promotional strategy. Miss Chan shared her thoughts:
"I am delighted to have received an award in the competition and to contribute a modest effort to the ongoing anti-deception work in our community."
The school extends our warmest congratulations to Leung Cheuk Lam and alumna Chan Yee Wan, and our sincere gratitude to the teachers of the Guidance and Discipline Section for their dedicated guidance . We hope all students will be inspired by their examples to embody our school motto, "Dat Deus Incrementum" , continually honing their perceptiveness, serving society, and contributing to the wider community with the knowledge and talents they have acquired .
