Exploring Frontier Technologies and Unlocking Innovative Potential: Our Student Achieved Outstanding Results in CityU’s "AI Explorers: Engineering Tech-a-Thon"
At S.K.H. Bishop Baker Secondary School, we are deeply committed to fostering interdisciplinary STEAM education and digital literacy, nurturing our students' creative thinking, scientific inquiry, and independent learning capabilities. Recently, encouraged and guided by Mr LI Chi Shing, CHAN Shing Chit from Class 2A took part in the intensive seven-month training programme "AI Explorers: Engineering Tech-a-Thon", jointly organised by the Bright Future Engineering Talent Hub at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the Bright Future Charitable Foundation. Through months of rigorous theoretical lectures, hands-on programming, and interdisciplinary project exploration, Shing Chit successfully completed the entire programme with flying colours.
The Bright Future Graduation Ceremony 2026 was held on 12 September 2026 at the City University of Hong Kong. During the ceremony, Shing Chit stood out among his peers with his exceptional project outcomes and dedicated learning attitude, receiving an award of commendation from the organiser and bringing great pride to our school community.
Throughout the seven-month journey, Shing Chit delved into cutting-edge artificial intelligence applications across modern engineering, medical technology, and advanced scientific research. Beyond writing code for image recognition algorithms, he also explored how AI assists medical professionals in analysing MRI scans, facilitates aerodynamics simulations, and propels research in materials science and topology. Reflecting on his learning experience, Shing Chit shared:
"I participated in the AI Explorers: Engineering Tech-a-Thon, a seven-month course organized by the Bright Future Engineering Talent Hub at CityU and the Bright Future Charitable Foundation. Over these seven months, I gained a lot of knowledge about the applications of AI across different fields. The most memorable class was when the teacher taught me how to write a program that can distinguish between images. In this course, I also learned how AI can help doctors analyze MRI scans, assist in the study of aerodynamics, and support research in materials science and topology. Ultimately, I realized that AI is a very important tool for learning, researching, and exploring this world."
Shing Chit's learning journey exemplifies the spirit of active exploration and perseverance, while highlighting the vital role our teachers play in guiding students towards broader academic horizons. In this fast-evolving era of smart technologies, our school will continue to create diverse research and inquiry platforms, strengthen collaboration with tertiary institutions, and equip every BBSS students to become an innovative, capable, and responsible leader for the future.
