Chan Hiu Yan will represent the China Hong Kong Women’s Softball Team at the Asian Games for the second time
Alumna Chan Hiu Yan (Class of 2014) shared her thoughts on representing the softball team at the Asian Games for the second time:
“Dare to challenge yourself to pursue the things you truly want to do — no matter how difficult, it is always worth it.
I only started playing softball at university, so I began much later than most other players. On top of that, while balancing my career, I had to devote even more time and effort to improving my skills and physical fitness. I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me along my softball journey, which has given me the honour of reaching the stage of the Asian Games. I will cherish every moment at the Asian Games, and I hope that everyone will continue to persist in doing what they love. We only live once.”
2018 marked the team’s first appearance in the softball event at the Asian Games, during which they scored their first-ever run in Asian Games history. At the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, they again finished 7th and recorded a win against Thailand. In the 2025 Women’s Softball Asia Cup held in Xian, the Hong Kong team finished 6th and successfully secured qualification for the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games.

Yeung Chun-yan Set for Asian Games Debut with Hong Kong Women’s Handball Team
Our alumna Yeung Chun-yan (currently Year 3 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong) will represent the China Hong Kong Women’s Handball Team for the first time at the Asian Games in Nagoya this September.
As a debutant at the Asian Games, Chun-yan shared her thoughts:
“I hope to cherish this rare opportunity, contribute as much as possible to the team, and not let down those who have placed their trust in me.”
Hong Kong, China women’s handball team previously competed at the Asian Games in 1990, 2014, 2018 and 2023. They finished 6th at both the 1990 Beijing Asian Games and the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, and shared 7th place at the most recent Hangzhou Asian Games. This will be the team’s fifth appearance at the Asian Games.
