To broaden students’ understanding of the development of cities in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, and to appreciate the advantages and opportunities for Hong Kong and neighbouring Mainland cities in this regional initiative, our school joined the Education Bureau’s ‘An Exploration of Life Sciences and Natural Landforms in Shenzhen’ on 27 June 2026.
Itinerary
Morning: Shenzhen National GeneBank
Students and teachers visited the national-level comprehensive gene bank, learning about the significance of life sciences in improving human well-being, increasing agricultural yields, diagnosing and treating genetic diseases, and protecting the environment. They observed state-of-the-art facilities, research achievements, and innovations in the biotechnology industry.
Afternoon: Shenzhen Dapeng Peninsula National Geopark Museum and 3D Science Film Screening
Students gained insights into the geological features of China’s southeastern coast, such as typical ancient volcanic strata, and explored the coastal landforms and plant resources within the park.
Throughout the tour, students listened attentively to the guides and completed their learning booklets with care. During reflection, many remarked that close encounters with rare plants at the Shenzhen National GeneBank deepened their appreciation of seemingly ordinary vegetation as invaluable natural heritage.
Students were also impressed by the intricate textures and diverse forms of the Dapeng Peninsula’s rocks, far surpassing what pictures could convey. This experience affirmed that geological knowledge is not abstract theory but a tangible rhythm of nature.
The day concluded on a delightful note, with students praising the delicious lunch that complemented a fulfilling and memorable journey.
