The "Speaking for All" School Workshop is funded by "English Alliance," a territory-wide project promoting the English language. It aims to provide secondary school students with enjoyable learning experiences to arouse their interest in the language, help them develop an appreciation for it, and boost their confidence in using it.
During the workshop, S5 students collaborated in an improvised drama activity. They played language games and performed impromptu short plays to share their ideas and life experiences regarding kindness. This dynamic improvisation was designed to bolster communication confidence and collaborative thinking. The exercise shifted the focus from linguistic accuracy to spontaneous interaction, encouraging students to think on their feet and maintain a cohesive narrative flow. By removing the fear of being "wrong," the activity reduced speaking anxiety and fostered a supportive environment where students practiced natural expressions and active listening. Students also practised storytelling techniques, such as voice modulation, facial expression and pacing, to explore how these elements could enhance communication in English. For senior students, this served as critical preparation for real-life communication and oral assessments, enhancing their ability to adapt to unpredictable conversational turns while developing empathy and teamwork.
