"Remembering History, Cherishing Peace, and Embracing the Future" Flag-raising Ceremony and Guard of Honour Review cum National Security Exhibition

In response to National Security Education Day 2026, 21 students from our school’s St. John Ambulance Cadets and Girl Guides represented S.K.H. Bishop Baker Secondary School on April 12 at the "Remembering History, Cherishing Peace, and Embracing the Future" Flag-raising Ceremony and Guard of Honour Review cum National Security Exhibition. The event was organized by the Yuen Long District Arts Committee and co-organized by the Yuen Long District Office.

The ceremony was majestic. As the national anthem played and the Five-star Red Flag rose, the entire audience stood in solemn attention, and a strong sense of pride and mission filled the hearts of our teachers and students. Under the review of the Inspecting Officer, Mr. Ma Fu-wai, Kelvin, JP, District Officer (Yuen Long), our team members, dressed in neat uniforms, demonstrated rigorous discipline and a vibrant spirit with their firm and powerful steps, fully embodying the sense of belonging of our students to our nation.

The outstanding performance of our students was made possible by the meticulous planning and dedicated training led by our teachers, whose hard work in conducting multiple drill rehearsals was indispensable. Our Principal and Vice-principal also attended the event to support the students, encouraging them to transform this respect for the country into a driving force for personal growth. As one of the 18-district activities for National Security Education Day 2026, the participation of our students in this large-scale community educational event is a direct implementation of this year's Major Concern: "Strengthening national education to cultivate students' sense of patriotism and enhancing their identification as national and global citizens."

National security is the fundamental cornerstone for the survival and development of a country and is closely related to the interests of every citizen. Through the National Security Exhibition, students gained a deeper understanding of the hard-earned peace from historical perspectives, realizing that national security is the bedrock of a happy life. This experience taught them to cherish current stability and reflect on their responsibilities as youths to safeguard the country and contribute to the world. Our school will continue to deepen national and national security education through diversified learning activities, guiding students to embrace their national identity while caring for global affairs with a positive attitude, fulfilling our mission to cultivate "competent and virtuous citizen leaders."
