At this year’s Citizenship and Social Development assembly, we were honored to invite our alumnus, Mr. Kazaf Tam—currently a North District Council member of the HKSAR, Chairman of the New Territories Association of Societies, and Chairman of the New Territories Youth Federation—back to share with us. He spoke about how an individual can give back to society step by step, drawing on his own experience in social service, with a particular focus on various youth initiatives.
Mr. Tam noted that during his tenure as Chairman of the Hong Kong CPPCC Youth Association from 2018 to 2022, he led the association to participate in and organize more than 140 activities each year to encourage young people to care about society and engage in public affairs. Among these, study tours, national affairs study programs, current affairs courses, and mentorship schemes became signature events, providing platforms for patriotic Hong Kong youth to develop their strengths. He also shared that during the most severe period of Hong Kong’s fifth wave of COVID-19, while serving concurrently as Chairman of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Chairman of the Hong Kong CPPCC Youth Association, and Executive Vice Chairman of the New Territories Association of Societies, he donated large quantities of supplies to organizations and members of the public in need, actively supporting the community.
These examples highlight Mr. Tam’s tireless dedication to public service. In the Q&A session at the end of the assembly, Mr. Tam prepared generous gifts to reward students who actively participated. The students responded enthusiastically, the atmosphere was vibrant, and many said they benefited greatly and thoroughly enjoyed the assembly.
