Recess and lunchtime
To foster an English-speaking environment on campus, our school’s English Club has arranged six English Speaking Days (ESDs) this academic year, with concerted efforts from all teachers and students.
ESD 1 began with English Ambassadors leading students in a one-minute chit-chat session on topics adapted from the IELTS speaking paper. These recess activities continued in ESD 2, in which students used iPads to play matching games and had great fun learning vocabulary items beyond the textbooks. Their involvement in activities around the campus was rewarded at the gift-redemption counter, where students exchanged their stamps for various gifts.
As for lunch activities, English Ambassadors assisted in arranging charades for junior- and senior-form students in both ESDs. This inter-class competition attracted all students to join as audience and provided a stage for performative and expressive students to shine.
