Cantonese Opera Excerpts – School Performances by Hong Kong Performing Stage of Cantonese Opera

Students from our school participated in the event "Cantonese Opera Excerpts – School Performances by Hong Kong Performing Stage of Cantonese Opera", organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.The programme will cover a brief introduction to the origins and development of Cantonese opera, the stylised performance elements in Cantonese opera like "singing, acting, reciting, fencing", and the abstract and formulaic performance style, etc. Props, costumes, and makeup of Cantonese opera will also be showcased. With the provision of guided appreciation, demonstration performances, and interactive activities, the programme aims to inspire students' interest and enhance their knowledge of appreciating Cantonese opera. The students greatly benefited from this music appreciation activity, gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese performing arts and experiencing the rich diversity of these art forms.
