To echo the ‘Positive Education’ promoted by the Diocese of West Kowloon Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, we organize this Adventure Day Camp for all S1 students. It is hoped that this unique experience will nurture a growth mindset and strengthen their resilience. We hope our students believe that they can change, grow, embrace the challenges, and keep learning successfully. At the same time, it is a valuable opportunity for our students to develop their collaboration skills, leadership and interpersonal skills.
Students warm up and expand their comfort zone through fun games, enhancing their engagement in the activities and improving their attention skills.
Each team member holds a pair of chopsticks and uses them to pick up the blocks. Starting from one point, they pass the blocks from one person to another until it reaches the last team member. Once the last team member receives the block, they place it in the designated area and use their hands to build a tower.
The team members need to introduce the conceptual idea behind their collective work.
Each team member has 2 wooden bricks. The entire team needs to use these bricks to cross a river within a designated time and "escape from the magical river". Communication is the first step, followed by strategizing and planning. The team then assigns tasks to collect English letters from the river. After reaching the finish line, they must construct a perfect sentence as the "code" to complete the "Escape from the Magical River" challenge.
After completing the activity, all the students set their learning goals for the new school year and write them on heart-shaped puzzle pieces. They place these pieces in the classroom as a constant reminder to themselves.
Today, everyone has experienced an unforgettable day, with both successes and failures. As long as we are willing to try, success is guaranteed.
