Venue: Webinar

Aims:  Through the afternoon assembly, students can understand better the life and the needs of refugees in Myanmar, reflect on what they can do to support the needy, and learn about what brings a group of Christians from different parties together to help the people in need in Africa, The Middle East, Asia and China.

CEDAR Fund was invited to introduce the issue of refugees to our teachers and students. It is an independent Christian relief and development organisation founded in Hong Kong. The members strive to live out the integral mission of the Church in partnership with Christians around the world to assist the poor and the needy.

They are called to participate in the mission of God and to witness God’s kingdom on earth. ‘From Church, Through Church’ is their guiding principle of operation. In Christ, they are determined to build a just and compassionate world together with Christian churches and organisations worldwide.

CEDAR Fund's Senior Programme Officer Mr Lai Ka-chun introduced the life of refugees in Myanmar and CEDAR's work there.

CEDAR Fund has published a picture book titled ‘小希的月亮’, which tells the growth experience of the Myanmar war girl Nor Too Hei. She and her sister were affected by the war and were displaced when they were young. Later, under the care of Grandpa Wu at the Full Moon children home, she experienced the wonderful supply from Heavenly Father and was able to go to school. Hei’s story allows children to look at the world, think about the importance of peace, and learn to trust Heavenly Father when facing difficulties.
